Kyoya Fujita has caught the kind of bass he’ll need to overtake the Day 3 leaders. Fujita started 10 pounds back of Joey Cifuentes this morning in 4th place. With one 7-pound bite, he just made up 70% of that deficit. Now, Fujita’s other four fish just have to weigh more than Cifuentes’s five. With another 7- pounder, things could get really interesting.
At that point, Fujita could limit out with 4s (of which he already has one in the boat) and Cifuentes would have to have at least 16 pounds. Doesn’t seem like much for the cowboy considering his lightest limit of the tournament weighed 19 pounds, 13 ounces. But if you’ve been watching closely this morning, Cifuentes is a far cry from 16- pounds after the first quarter.
