The Elite Series field is doing everything they possibly can to show out on the water right now.
Steve Wright just relayed a little research. There were 25 bags of 20-pounds or more caught on Day 1 at Waddington in 2019. In 2020 at Clayton, the number of 20-pound bags on Day 1 was 17. Last year at Waddington, it was 15.
Currently there are 22 bags estimated over 20-pounds on BassTrakk, and likely a few of those estimating 18- or 19- pounds have more than 20, not to mention the anglers who haven’t had service to report their catches from where they’re fishing today.
It safe to say 30 bags over 20- pounds will come across the stage today. That’s 30 guys averaging a 4-pound plus fish across their limits. And the vast majority of those will be smallmouth. Impressive.
