The Louisiana Sportsmen’s Coalition is holding a bass fishing tournament on July 21, and all money raised will benefit the Louisiana Sportsmen’s Coalition in their fight to help keep the state’s waterways open.
Anglers are invited to join the event at the Belle River Public Launch for some great raffle prizes as well as food and drinks. The $125 entry fee includes a Big Bass Pot and a meal, and first place is $1,200 guaranteed with 50 boats participating.
This will be a trailering event and any launch site within the event boundaries can be used on tournament day. All teams must check in at Belle River Public launch and have their livewell checked as well as trolling motor flagged before proceeding to their desired launch site. No fishing before 6 a.m. with fishing ending at 3 p.m. Teams must be checked in at tournament headquarters no later than 4 p.m.
Raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase by all that attend the weigh-in event the afternoon of July 21. Food and drink tickets will also be available for purchase to those not fishing the event.
Regarding the continued fight for water access in Lousiana, B.A.S.S. Conservation Director Gene Gilliland said, “This issue is about more than just fishing and boating access, its about the long-standing image of Louisiana as the ‘Sportsman’s Paradise.’ The Louisiana Sportsmen’s Coalition, along with our Louisiana B.A.S.S. Nation members are the ‘boots-on-the-ground’ in this fight. This organization is leading the charge to get their state’s laws brought in line with the rest of the nation, allowing public access to what should be public waters. Anglers participating in this tournament are helping support that effort.”
