Free fish care training available to public kicks off week of Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River activities

Barb Elliott, the New York B.A.S.S. Nation Conservation Director and smallmouth bass “fizzing” expert will be giving free fish care training to the public for three days prior to the Humminbird Bassmaster Elite at St. Lawrence River held Aug. 15-18.  Elliott will provide instruction on fish handling, basic livewell management and barotrauma relief (fizzing).  

Elliott will be at the Cape Vincent boat ramp on Monday, Aug. 12, at the city dock adjacent to the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton on Tuesday, Aug. 13, and at the Waddington boat ramp on Wednesday, Aug. 14. She will be at each location from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. 

Anglers wanting to learn proper fizzing technique are encouraged to bring with them two live, legal-size smallmouth bass when they come for training.

Barb will also be a featured speaker at the free BassmastHER workshop on Saturday, Aug. 17 , in Waddington at the Martin Civic Center.
