Yelas with a 7-pound lunker

Jay Yelas is making an appearance in the top three with a 7-pound plus lunker.

That gives him 17 pounds and change according to BassTrakk. The awesome thing is he only has four fish for the day, which means he has a lot of room to move up.

Of those four, he’s got a basic 6-pounder, a 3-4 and 1 pounder. Two 3-pound bites and he’s at 23 pounds. Two more anywhere close to 6 and 7 and we may see another week with a veteran leading after Day 1 with a monster sack.

Yelas, though, isn’t just a veteran, this is his second event after being inducted into the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame last fall.
