The fish catches just keep rolling in

I’ve mentioned it a couple of other times this morning, but it continues this afternoon: The number of fish-catches reported by Marshals just keeps spinning, like the numbers on a gas pump. However, you’re seeing little change in the BASSTrakk standings because most of these bass are in the 1 1/2-  to 2 1/2-pound range.

The biggest in the 1:00 to 1:30 p.m. time range was a 4-pounder by Carl Jocumsen, which gave him 15 pounds on the day and moved him into 30th place in the unofficial standings.

Ounces are going to be hugely important in this four-day event, but especially so today when the field is cut to the top 52 anglers. Right now it appears the cutline will be between 23 and 24 pounds.

The totals from Day 1 were as follows: 112 anglers, 93 limits, 524 bass weighed-in, total weight of 1,457 pounds, 4 ounces. That’s an average of about 2 3/4 pounds per fish.
