If you looked up and down the Day 1 standings at Lake Travis, you may have noticed the wide range of success and failure.
On one end of the chart there was Elite Series rookie Ray Hanselman leading the tournament with 5 bass weighing 21 pounds, 15 ounces.
On the other end was accomplished Elite Series veteran Dean Rojas in 108th place with only 2 bass weighing 2-3. Cliff Prince had a limit of 14-inch-minimum bass that weighed a grand total of 6 pounds even. You can expect a lot of flip-flopping in the standings today. The anglers that had success yesterday aren’t guaranteed anything today.
“There’s a really fine line here between catching 6 pounds and catching 26 pounds,” said Brandon Palaniuk. “You’ll hear a lot of guys say, ‘I saw a big one.’ Everybody is seeing big ones. I think there’s actually more big ones in here than what everyone was expecting.”
So expectations are high entering Day 2. But there are no guarantees.
