It would be near impossible to be more consistent than brothers Chris and Cory Johnston have been so far in this tournament. Right on cue, they’re off to a similar start on Day 3. Cory put his second smallmouth in the boat – a 4-9 – at 7:15 a.m.; Chris caught his second keeper – a 3-12 – at 7:17.
On Day 1, they both weighed 21-11 to tie for 5th. On Day 2, Cory added 21-5 to finish 6th and Chris weighed two ounces less to finish 7th. Almost all pre-tournament predictions about who was likely to win this tournament included the Johnston brothers from Canada. So it’s no surprise they’re near the top of the leaderboard. But their near-perfect matches in performance on the first two days are uncanny.
