The 2023 Texas B.A.S.S. Nation Club State Championship was held on April 13 & 14 at Ray Roberts Lake in North Texas. 174 Anglers participated in the 2-day event to earn the title of Texas State Champion and claim the trophy and associated prize money. In total nearly $17,000 was paid out after the 2-day event. Day 1 brought ideal conditions for the anglers with light winds, prime for sight fishing shallow bedding bass. The weather on Day 2 threw the anglers a curve with sustained winds of 20+ mph, making the 25,000-acre lake fish smaller. Boater, Colby Bryant for The Bass Club in south TX, led Day 1 with almost 20 pounds and brought 11.76 pounds to the scales on Day 2 to win the boater division. Co-Angler John Caddell from the Mansfield Bassmasters charged from 5th place on Day 1 to first place after Day 2 with a winning weight of 20.33 Pounds. Big Bass honors went to Ryan Robinson from Nacogdoches Bass Club with a 7.12-pound Ray Roberts giant.
