At the halfway point of the official practice day of the Academy Sports + Outdoors Bassmaster Classic presented by Huk, the question still remains — will the tournament be won shallow, deep, or a mixture of both?
Starting our morning up the Tugaloo River, it appears as if it’s almost an even split as to those fishing then bank and those fishing off the bank. Anglers like Matt Arey and Matt Robertson spent the majority of their morning bouncing from pocket to pocket, primarily targeting boat docks, as where Brandon Palaniuk and Brandon Card have spent their time utilizing their electronics and fishing off the bank. Card has spent the majority of his idling areas and not even fishing.
The later it’s gotten in the day, the more boats we‘ve seen make the move to the backs of the pockets.
It’s also getting to the point in the day when more boats are running around, making as many stops as possible before the day is officially over.
