Jacob Powroznik just landed a lunker. We're a couple hundred yards away from him, but Steve Bowman's telephoto lens revealed a bass that looked every bit of 8 pounds. I can't imagine how skinny the water is near the bank, where Powroznik is fishing, since we're sitting in one foot out here. But that's the second good fish we've seen lately come from that area. Timmy Horton landed a 4- or 5-pounder near there earlier.
The advantage of fishing in the shallower water is that there's less of a ripple on the water surface. But there is less of that everywhere now, as the wind has diminished to about 5 mph, from the 10 mph that was causing so many headaches at midmorning.
