Based on the Day 2 standings, Brandon Palaniuk is now third in Angler of the Year points based on his 12th place finish yesterday. He’ll probably finish there when the points become official upon completion of the tournament. He moved ahead of Patrick Walters, who finished 77th at the St. Lawrence River.
It’s a testament to the incredible season Seth Feider has posted that Palaniuk and second-place Chris Johnston are no longer in contention for the Angler of the Year title. Six times in the previous eight 2021 Elite Series events Palaniuk has finished 22nd or better. His worst finishes were 37th at the Tennessee River and 61st at the Sabine River. When he won the AOY title in 2017, Palaniuk began the year with a 105th place finish at Lake Okeechobee, further evidence of Feider’s extraordinary year.
At 10 a.m. today, Palaniuk was 19th in the BassTrakk standings. He’s got 3 bass totaling 6 pounds, 12 ounces.
