Ott DeFoe noted at Thursday’s anglers meeting that he thought this huge 370,000-acre lake would “fish small,” meaning several guys would be concentrated in small areas of Lake Oahe.
“It’s such a big lake, but it ain’t going to fish very big,” DeFoe said. “There’s not that much offshore stuff that’s holding fish.”
Sure enough, photographer Gettys Brannon reports that six anglers are fishing within sight of each other near the Little Bend area – Seth Feider, Kevin VanDam, Boyd Duckett, Adrian Avena, Andy Montgomery and Jeff Kriet.
Brannon just witnessed Feider filling his limit with his second 3-plus-pound smallmouth bass. Feider’s weight is one of many that isn’t showing up on BASSTrakk due to poor cell service. Brannon estimates Feider has 13 or 14 pounds.
