Kimura cooking early on Day 3

With 24-9 on Day 2 of the Marathon Bassmaster Elite at Lake Murray, Kenta Kimura locked himself firmly into Day 3 in 11th place.

The Bass Cat Pro from Japan caught all of his weight off one area down the lake, an area he’s returned to begin Day 3. “There’s more bass here today than yesterday,” said Kimura. “We need a little sun and we need them to get up and feed and we can catch’em again.”

Kimura is using his forward facing sonar to watch the school from afar, make long casts, and bring his bait back through the school to trigger the bites.

Currently, he’s sitting on three bass for about eight pounds.

He’s chosen a smaller bait presentation because he says, “the fish want a smaller bait,” and he’s got an assortment of smaller profile baits across the front of his boat.

Kimura believes another 20+ pounds is right in front of us. We’ll see how many go for a ride in the Bass Cat later.
