We’ve stopped on Harvey Horne for a bit. Horne is in the middle of the pack and is fighting to make the cut today.
He had 14-9 yesterday and will likely need 20 today if he wants to fish tomorrow.
Right now he has a boatload of 2-pounders, which won’t keep him fishing.
But he’s on a spot where he lost three “giants” yesterday. He needs all three to bite again. We’ve seen it happen.
Harvey Horne is a big old, lovable bear of a man. He’s got that Grizzly Adams beard and a down-home demeanor.
He qualified for the Elites with help from winning an Open on the Arkansas River.
Back home we might consider him a river rat. But he’s more versatile than that.
Still on this clear water river, watching him make a drift with a little bitty spinning rod seems a bit of character. Horne, though, has been on a constant path of being more versatile and affective. After a slow start last season, he’s starting to show signs of climbing up the ladder in the overall AOY standings.
Good to see. The world needs more lovable bears.
