Day 2 leader Edwin Evers just put his first fish in the livewell. From our vantage point it looked like a 2-pound smallmouth. Ten minutes earlier Evers had a bigger fish on the line. He fought it hard, holding his rod high in the air. But 20 feet from the boat the bass jumped 2 feet into the air and came unhooked. "Dang!" yelled Evers emphatically. That bass appeared to be more in the 4-pound range.
