With a literal 3 seconds or less left on the clock, Lefebre boats a 3-8 that will surely change the outlook of his match up. If it does anything, it will show how every cast and every second will count.
Lefebre’s final fish came after a short scramble to this spot. He pulled up short, but quickly closed the distance and with seconds remaining hooked up.
Up to that point, he has been playing the fish gingerly but with time running out, he jerked the fish from 10 feet away. Gene Gilliand said when the fish hit the deck, he looked down and there was 1 or 2 seconds left.
Lefebre obviously went a little nuts. “That never happens to me,” he screamed.
But it did. And that one fish will likely help wipe away the memory of a lost 5 pounder earlier in the round.
