Bob Downey needed to reverse a negative trend this week at Chickamauga Lake, and he has done so. The 34-year-old second-year Elite Series angler from Hudson, Wis., began this season with a second-place finish at the St. Johns River. But he missed the next two top 47 cuts, finishing 64th at the Harris Chain and 85th at Santee Cooper.
Downey has righted the ship. He came into today in 28th place with 29-5, and he’s added another 12 pounds to it this morning, including a 5-pound, 12-ounce largemouth. At 10:45, Downey is up to 12th place on BassTrakk.
