This morning at the launch ramp at French Creek Marina I spoke with Chris Johnston. The Canadian angler is already thinking ahead.
Here is his game plan for Day 2.
“It’s going to be a beautiful day out there,” he said. “Sunny, calm. I’m going to be able to run a lot of different spots, and that is part of my plan for the day.”
Running a lot of different spots is not necessarily part of putting smallmouth into the livewell today.
“I hope to get some big bites and then try and locate some fish for the next couple of days, when the wind comes up, before it gets too windy to go find them,” he said. “So, I’m going to try and do some homework for the next couple of days, while trying to get decent bites early.”
Timing is everything. Johnston plans to check on fish at preselected areas, make sure they are there before making a long run across rough water to only discover they are not there.
