With two great finishes in Florida to start the Elite Series season — and a solid resume to back it up — no one should be surprised to see that Stetson Blaylock is now unofficially leading the 2022 Bassmaster Classic.
He’s one of those pros who seems like he’s been around forever, even though he’s still young, and he’s won at every rung of the ladder on the way up.
We encountered him just a short hop across the lake from Green Pond Landing, at the mouth of the Seneca, with a sizeble gallery of boats. He’s patiently skipping docks and paying little mind to the significance and likely pressure of the moment. Of course, he doesn’t know that he’s leading the whole shooting match, but with over 17 pounds in his Bass Cat livewell, he has to suspect it.
A victory would make him the third consecutive winner out of a Bass Cat, with Hank Cherry obviously taking both of those other titles. This is Blaylock’s first year in the boat after many in another brand.
