Introduction to Fishing
My first fishing memory is that my grandad would always show up at our house on Saturday morning with a chicken biscuit for me, and we would fish until we were miserable. After that, we would always go to a little run-down gas station to fuel up with one of the best cheeseburgers ever made. I can remember doing this every weekend until he got too sick and unfortunately passed. My grandpa George was a HUGE part of why I love being an angler.
Experiences and Challenges
One of the most significant experiences that I’ve had being a female in the fishing industry is that some of my first partners in the industry started the conversation off with what made me stand out is that I can keep an audience with just being myself and without doing negative things to get attention. As a girl, that made me so proud to hear that.
Perceptions and Attitudes
I personally have had some of the most genuine experiences making friends and partners over the years that I’ve been making fishing content. I believe that the fishing industry has come a long way in helping women to be more supported.
Support Systems
I have found multiple women in the industry that are always available for friendship and advice! Some of my close friends are ones that I’ve made through my fishing videos on Instagram.
Representation and Visibility
Yes, because I have seen so many new groups made for just female anglers, especially at the trade shows. I am so excited to see these groups show nothing but love and support for each other and to continue to set positive outlooks on females in the bass fishing industry.
Advice for Aspiring Female Anglers
Ladies, if there is one thing that no one can take from you, it is the ability to be YOURSELF. If no one has told you already, YOU are awesome, and YOU can do anything with a little hard work and a positive attitude.
Personal Achievements
I am very proud that daily I continue to stay true to myself and strive to be a better person. I am also very proud of landing that monster 10.7 lb bass; I got over 5 million views throughout not only my own platform but through the very companies that have supported me over the years. I am truly blessed to have strong friendships with all of my brand partners.
Fishing Style
My favorite style of fishing is reaction baits. There is nothing better than watching a fish get aggressive over a lure. Topwater is one of my go-to baits even if I may not catch anything, as there is nothing better than the anticipation of a blow-up strike!
