Four former Bethel students fished in the 2023 Bassmaster Classic, and eight Bethel alumni are fishing as pro anglers today.

Additional Team Highlights: A relatively new team to the sport of competitive bass fishing, the USC Union anglers burst onto the scene in 2021, transitioning from a club team to one that was backed by the athletics department. All 28 members on the current team are on fishing scholarships. The school is in the process of renovating a massive on-campus, brick-style boat storage facility, complete with a “Bass Lounge” clubhouse for team members to utilize in between classes (it will be completed before the 2025-26 season). The team was ranked in the Top 25 for the first time in program history this past year by the ACA Collegiate Program, finishing 23rd in the final rankings. Also, the team finished second in the Team of the Year standings for the Bassmaster College Series this past season and qualified two anglers for the Bassmaster College Classic Bracket by winning the Lunkers Division of the Bassmaster College Series. The University of South Carolina Union has two campuses, one in Union, S.C., and another in Laurens, S.C., and utilizes a mixture of in-person and online classes to offer an affordable, quality education to any angler interested in taking the next step.

Wabash Valley College is a two-year community college and in our four years of competing on the college series, every angler on the team that has either graduated or transferred to a four-year school has done so with zero student loan debt. We have had multiple anglers continue their college fishing careers at other schools after completing their associate’s degree at Wabash Valley College and have a former angler, Drew Gill, who is now fishing at the professional level. Our program provides 50% tuition scholarships to our anglers and a very generous amount of funding for travel to our anglers.

Webber International University (also known as Webber) is a not-for-profit private institution of higher education. It is located on a 110-acre campus on the beautiful shores of Crooked Lake, Babson Park in Florida and hosts students from more than 48 different countries. It is one of only seven schools recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s Best Colleges for a business specialty.
