The majority of the field here this week will fish the entire event without catching a 4- pound bass. A 4- pounder here is as rare as a clover with four leaves. They are hard to come by. Few and far between. And any other cliché, colloquialism or idiom you’d like to insert. Four pounders simply do not abound here.
All that being said, Matt Robertson is in the unofficial lead right now with two fish for 8- pounds, 4- ounces. Robertson has the unofficial Phoenix Boats Big Bass of 4- pounds, 4- ounces and another 4- pounder. We continue to stress the unofficial part because of news that just came in from on the water.
Apparently BassTrakk is lagging in a few areas, as on the water reporter Robbie Floyd just let us all know that Cory Johnston is sitting on an early limit for 12- pounds, including a 4- pound smallmouth. Per BassTrakk, there are no other 4- pound plus fish to report currently.
